User Grouping and Reflective Beamforming for IRS-Aided URLLC

چکیده
This letter studies an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-aided downlink ultra-reliable and low-latency communication (URLLC) system, in which IRS is dedicatedly deployed to assist a base station (BS) send individual short-packet messages multiple users. To enhance the URLLC performance, users are divided into different groups for each group encoded single codeword. By considering time division access (TDMA) protocol among groups, our objective minimize total latency all subject their reliability requirements, via jointly optimizing user grouping blocklength allocation at BS together with reflective beamforming IRS. We solve minimization problem alternating optimization, blocklengths optimized by using techniques of successive convex approximation (SCA) semi-definite relaxation (SDR), while updated K-means greedy-based methods. Numerical results show that proposed designs can significantly reduce latency, as compared various benchmark schemes, unveil importance optimization exploiting joint encoding gain enhancing worst-case performance.

Joint Spatial Division and Multiplexing: Opportunistic Beamforming and User Grouping
Joint Spatial Division and Multiplexing (JSDM) is a recently proposed scheme to enable massive MIMO like gains and simplified system operations for Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD) systems. The key idea lies in partitioning the users into groups with approximately similar covariances, and use a two stage downlink beamforming: a prebeamformer that depends on the channel covariances and minimiz...
متن کاملAdaptive selection of antenna grouping and beamforming for MIMO systems
Antenna grouping algorithms are hybrids of transmit beamforming and spatial multiplexing. With antenna grouping, we can achieve combining gain through transmit beamforming, and high spectral efficiency through spatial multiplexing. In an independent identically distributed channel, the antenna grouping method has better bit error rate (BER) performance than the beamforming method. However, if t...
متن کاملUser Grouping Algorithm for MU-MIMO Systems
Recently standardized wireless systems have multiple Time-Slots in a radio frame, but existing MUMIMO schedulers are not utilizing multiple Time-Slots efficiently. In this paper we propose a sub-optimal user grouping algorithm utilizing multiple Time-Slots efficiently. The proposed algorithm disperses highly-correlated users in different Time-Slots to prevent severe degradation of spatial multi...
متن کاملUser-aided data authentication
All classical authentication protocols are based on pre-shared authentic information such as long-term secret keys or a public key infrastructure. However, there are many practical settings, where participants can additionally employ authentic OutOf-Band (OOB) communication, e.g., manual message transfer. In this paper, we study the corresponding user-aided message authentication and key agreem...
متن کاملEvaluation of Interfaces for IRS: Modelling End-User Searching Behaviour
This paper describes an investigation in progress into the searching behaviour of end-users and how it is affected by interface design. The project focused on qualitative data gathering and heavily relies on thinkaloud protocols. 65 end-users were observed searching a bibliographic database (Medline) in their natural setting. The two most commonly used commercial versions of Medline were select...
